From the East: February 2018

Brethren,

I hope everybody is enjoying the winter season, be that on the ski slopes, canal or by the fire.

It is my very pleasant duty, on behalf of the Brethren of Ionic Lodge, to welcome our newest Brother Kevin Ford, to our fraternity. You would have been able to gain just a glimpse of the antiquity and depth of our Society during your initiation and I bear in mind the footsteps you follow of great men before in our three hundred year history.

Thank you to the Brethren that joined me at Bytown Lodge’s Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master. We were able to regain the Travelling Trowel Trophy before having to challenge for it again at Defenders. The Trowel was introduced to foster visitation between the Lodges of the District and has turned become a fun competition.

Our February Regular meeting will be a little different. We will not be having a degree, but rather having a Lodge of Discussion. Ionic formed a 5- year plan about five years ago and having seen the progress Ionic has made in the past few years. We need to form a new 5 year plan to document what is important to the Brethren of Ionic. Please, if you are able to make it out for the meeting. I would like to see you there to discuss the future of our Lodge.

Also, I have called for an emergent meeting where we will be passing some Entered Apprentices to the Second Degree. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there as our Brethren progress through their Masonic Journey.

Lastly, I would like to remind the Brethren of the Valentine Charity Ball on February 10th. Ionic members and friends were the largest contributor to ticket sales last year and I hope that trend continues. It is always a fun, beautiful event to bring your lady, friends and family.
