From the East: October 2019

Brethren,

As I sit here and write to you on the evening of the equinox, I can feel the summer slowly fading away and the fall coming upon us.  It won't be long until we are treated to the miracle of changing leaves and changing seasons and the maybe not so miraculous return to cooler weather.

With September now behind us, we have a new brother in our midst who went through the ceremony of initiation at our last regular meeting – and by all accounts was in awe of the experience.  The degree team came together and gave the candidate an evening he will never forget, and the many members who were there to witness the event were just as much a part of the experience, and I thank you all.  Looking ahead, we have a Third Degree to confer at our regular meeting in October, and multiple Second Degrees at a special Emergent meeting.  Unfortunately, due to the timing of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), I will be unable to attend the regular meeting in October, however, the Lodge will be in good hands with our past masters raising an eligible candidate to the sublime degree of a master mason.

October also brings with it the DDGM's official visit to Luxor Daylight Lodge on the 16th at 10:30 am.  I realize this is not an easy one for many of us to get to, however, I encourage all Brethren who are able, to accompany me to show support for our DDGM as well as our only daylight Lodge in the district.

Yet another important event in October is to be the presenting of a 60-year pin to  Worshipful Brother Frank Grant on October 19th in the morning.  The Grand Master will be in attendance with a small delegation from Ionic.  Recognizing the service of our longest-serving members is a pleasure and a responsibility we owe to the Craft with the hope that we all can achieve the same milestone.

I encourage any brethren who have difficulties attending Lodge due to transportation challenges to reach to me personally and I will ensure that you are taken care of.  Transportation should never be an insurmountable obstacle for those wishing to sit in Lodge.

Never forget Brethren: "One thing and only one thing a Masonic Lodge can give its members which they can get nowhere else in the world. That one thing is Masonry." ~ W. Bro George Washington

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Jason Solomon,
